Thanks Neighbor

Hello, I hope you're having a good day?  I have a cute card today that I made for a sweet neighbor of mine who is always doing nice things for the community.  I, of course broke out my distress oxides to blend a quick background for this neighborhood scene.  I cut out a scalloped circle and oval with my scan n cut2 to assist in making the cloud stencil. I also quickly scribbled a hillside on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out to ink my hill sides.  I flipped it over to have contrasting sides.   I enjoyed making this cute, but quick card.  I hope it inpires you to craft something today!

Products used:  Navy/Whtite/Yellow Card stock, Spectrum Noir Alchohol Markers, Distress Oxide Inks  Lucky Clover/ Mowed Grass/ Tumbled Glass, Momenta Thank You die, Neigborhood die, white halfbacked pearls, white sheer ribbon, and wink of stella.

Butterfly Dreams Mixed Media Canvas With Peony Wreath

Good Morning!  I hope you're all having a great week so far!  I have a fun project to present to you.  I actually dreamed about this, one day last week after going to bed for only a few hours.... and gasp I got up early and started creating what I remembered from my dream.  Maybe it wasn't dream, I did ask God for some really big inspiration and to create something that I had never seen before.  I did make a trip to the dollar store for two items, the wreath and the frame mid-way through, but got started on the project until they opened.   I don't think of myself as a mixed media artist, but I think this came out great as I used items I love.  When I was a young adult I  used to make wreaths and thought of myself as the hot glue gun queen so I thought it was only fitting to incorporate my love of God, Flowers, Stamping, and Wreaths in one project.   I hope you love it... I do!

How to make Heartfelt Creations Peony Flowers:
I always suggest watching the Heart Felt Creations videos for inspirations:
1.  I stamp one page of the Large Peony stamp set (8.5x11) and another with the small peony stamp set to ensure I have enough for more than one project.  I use another sheet for the foliage that goes with both set.
2.  Stamp with Lilac posies for the flowers and Pistachio for the leaves and die cut.
3. Add rose bud to the outer areas and add Angel pink to the inner petal and under the petals as they will be visible when you shape the flower.
4.  Add the petals to the 3D Floral Basics Shaping mold.  You can general layer them 3 deep.  Mist them and run them through your die cutting machine per mfr suggestions
5.  Shape your bottom layers with an 8 mm stylus and off set them and glue them.  I typically start with the stamped area face down, so you see the stamped image as it curls up.  Then you cup the 2 smaller layers offsetting them to make the bud or inner layers and glue them inside the larger areas.
6.  Repeat this process with the smaller layers but user smaller stylus as needed  If you want to make only a bud and have some wired you can use your smaller petals and used poker tool and run a stamen through and secure with hot glue.
7.  The leaves I finish inking with New Sprout and then run an 8mm stylus over them to give them dimension.
8.  Adhere your larger peony flowers to the wreath first and then add the smaller to fill in the space.
9.  Add your green leaves where needed to fill and then add sprigs of floral picks if desired.
10. Spray entire project with Krylon Clear Matte Spray to seal it.

Tulip Time 6x6 Z-Fold Card

Good Afternoon!  I have been a busy girl the last few days playing with flowers and new techniques.  I will share a few of them over the next week.  My first project features Heartfelt Creations Tulip Time Collection!  I love this collection and couldn't wait until it arrived in my mailbox.  I tend to love tulips once they've opened a little bit, so that is how I featured them today. That is one of the things I like most about molding and shaping my own flowers is that I get to control the shape and size of them, and whether they are open or just budding.    One a side note... One of my favorite places is to visit is the Cincinnati Zoo while they have their tulip exhibit, if you ever have the chance to go, please go it is breath taking.

I am including the directions on how to make this card at the bottom off the post if you have questions and a link to HC's video tutorial.  I hope you love this one as much as I do.  Have a blessed day!

Gemini by Crafters Companion Blossoming Borders Die
Crafter’s Companion DieSire Garden Party
Bertech Foam Tape
Art Glitter Glue
Hot Glue
Wow Fine Iridescent Glitter
Recollections Rectangle Gemstones.

Construction of the card:
1.  Cut the blush card base 6inx12in.  score at 3 in and 6 inches to obtain the z fold.
2  Patterned paper (all same pattern) as follows:  1 piece at:  2 3/4inx 5 3/4in,
   2nd piece at 2 1/2inx 5 3/4in     3rd piece at   5 3/4in by 5 3/4inches
3.  Die cute 6 pieces of the Crafter’s Companion Scallop Border die and piece together to form the right and left side border of card.  Adhere and trim to correct size to the blush cards stock.  It is important to glue it such that the border edge will be covered by your matting pieces in the next step.  Save extra pieces for later step.
4.  Adhere the appropriate pieces to mat the z fold base with pieces previously cut.
5.  Cut 1 blush piece  at 5 7/8in x 5 7/8 inch.  Distress the edges with the side of a scissors, this causes frays, tears, and marks.  Then ink those same edges lightly with Memento Rhubarb Stalk Ink.
6.  In the Heartfelt Creations Tulip Time Paper Pack Find the  page with 4 cut out pages and cut out page with the burgundy edge and pink tulips.  Please remove this and trim this image to 5 ½ in x 5 ½ in
7.  Adhere the distressed page to the previously cut out and page to mat it and then adhere both to the square section of the base card.
8.  Add the Crafters Companion Garden Party Die cut to Burgandy striped paper.  Trim to desired height and width.  Adhere with Art Glitter glue or glue of choice.
9.  Cut 1 blush piece 1 7/8in x 3 3/4in.  Stamp the God Has Not Given me a Spirit of Fear…. Verse onto it with versarfine ink and let it dry thoroughly as it can smudge.  Then adhere the additional pieces of scalloped boarder on both sides.  Apply 1/16in thick foam tape and apply to front panel centered.

Flower Construction:
I highly recommend you watch Heartfelt Creation’s youtube video but will also give you written instructions.  You can find it here
1.  Stamp your tulips both large and small with rhubarb stalk.  I tend to fill an entire page with each size so that I have plenty for more than one project.  I also fill an additional page half with large and small tulip bases inked with Bamboo leaves by Memento Ink.
2. I then ink the edges with Rose bud lightly and a little of Angel Pink.  In the center I ink with Dandelion ink from Memento.
3.  Die cut each of the stamped images.  I then Ink the back sides with Angel ink lightly.
4.  Place your tulip petal in your 3D tulip shaping mold and mist them lightly.  I have found you can put up to three in each section.  Run them through your die cutting machine per mfr recommendations.  I then used an 8mm stylus  using one swipe on each petal, down the front of each leaf, once along the head of the stem where you will attach your tulip.  Be sure to poke a hole in the head of stem and in the center of each flower.
6.  Insert your first flower onto the stamen and hot glue the tip of the stamen and quickly the edges of the petals to obtain the shape.  This is where you have creative freedom if you like tight buds, or loose flowers (I love looser flowers and that is what is on my card).  Then you repeat your next petal.
7.  Add your stem and glue to flower base.   Trim wire but keep some length so you can manipulate your bouquet.
8.  You do the same process with the smaller tulips but be sure to use a tighter center or bud.  If you want to you make just a bud, make sure you start with your stamped image facing down and pull it and scrimp it up tight.  Paint lightly with Art Glitter Glue and add Iridescent glitter.  I hope this make sense.

Composition of the Final Flower Bouquet:
1.  Die cute 2 mint leafy accents and spray with Tattered Angels Money bags and let dry
2. Die cut 2 forest green leafy accent spray with Tattered Angles Mocha and Let dry.
3.  Using 5mm stylus curled the leaves and vines for dimensions and glued with Art Glitter Glue
4.  I Used Approximately 4 small tulips and 4 large tulips to make my arrangements and utilized the wire stems to give dimension.   I added rectangle rhinestones for added bling.

Saturday Photo Challenge

Hello, Joy here with a design team project for Catch The Bug Challenge Blog where we are having a photo challenge.  I loved this challenge because I love nature and I especially love birds.  I had fun with this one as I did some ink blending, dry embossing, easyleaf shaping, bow making and of course some coloring!  I did use a new to me product for my blending as I added ink after using my ebossing folder, I really them.  I don't typically recommend items on here as we all need to make our own decisions, but I think this is a must have! Darice Pods.  If you like my card, I would really appreciate you following me.  Thanks and have a great weekend!

Scarlette Cafe- Freebie Friday

TGIF! Anyone else echo that sentiment?  I just may join Scarlette and have a martini with her, lol.  I hope you all have had a good week and are ready for the weekend!  I have project featuring Bugaboo's Freebie Friday download and I just love her!  She'd be great for a card or a planner page.  I encourage to check out the design team's projects over on the challenge blog and then join in on some of the fun!  For this card is what was all about the layers.  When I first started making cards I had a wise friend tell me that layering was the key to a good card.  I don't know if that is true or not, but I think the layers worked well here.  What do you think?

Thankful Spring Is Coming

Hello!  I have a quick project for your today that I very much enjoyed making.  Although it isn't snowing, I am longing for Spring and couldn'r resist making a happy card.  I used gelatos to make my background both by using it as water color to get a base and then I blended heavier areas with my fingers.  I think I prefer the latter techique as it takes me back to childhood fingerpainting.  Isn't awesome as adults we get to call it a technique?  For the flowers I inked the stamps in layers using one color at a time to achieve the  blended colors. I also added a bit of ink via aqua brush to the leaves.    Without further ado...

Fairy Girl New Release Tuesday!

Hello!  I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday!  Today I have a project for a New Release over at Bugaboo.  This little Fairy girl is fabulous!  I can imagine her sitting on a flower or a mushroom, or even on top of a cloud, but for me I saw a birthday card of someone who loved everthing pink and purple.  I had a lot of fun coloring this image, but one of the bonuses of digital stamps is printing them on a laser printer because then you have the option to foil it in a laminator.  My photography skills did not give the foiled image the justice it deserves and for that I apologize!  I addition to my foiling I got to play with one of my favorite mediums.... you guessed it Distress Oxide Inks and Distress Sprays.  I hope you like the card and it inspires you to make something fun today!  Please check out the rest of the creations with image as the design team have out done themselves at Catch The Bug Challenge Blog

Starting Something a Little New For Me.

As a woman, and an artist/maker I find that I'm not always secure in what I present to the world.  I always want it to be perfect and am afraid of any criticism that's out there.  Isn't that absurd?  We all have to learn somewhere right?  But, I'm finding that in my art I don't have much of record of my progress because I am always giving it away, so after much deliberating I have decided to start an art journal.  As a kid I always kept a journal and as a Christian I keep a prayer journal, so I decided why not an art journal.  And when I say art I say that loosely. The things that rattle around in my head may be awful examples of mud.  At best I'm hoping for some great backgrounds, a few laughs, some feed back from you all, and maybe encourage someone else to record their progress and feed their inner artist soul today.  I am starting in a wired bound Canson mixed media paper journal.  I am thinking I may switch to a home made chipboard ring bound journal later, but we'll see where this goes.  You can probably expect to see 1-2 entries a week here on the blog.  I'd love to see your feed back and even some of your own art journals.   Give me your links and I'll follow you !!!! Here goes nothing!!!!

He Has My Heart

Good Afternoon!  Happy Valentine's Day!  As we celebrate love today, I made sure to let me my hubby know he has my heart with this card today!  We don't do much to celebrate this day, as we believe that our love should show everyday.   I jokingly said I would never date again or for that matter marry again unless that person knocked on my door.  My guy literally knocked on the door of a bible study I was in at church and the rest is history.  We've been married 4 years and each day he makes sure I know I am loved.  Don't laugh, but to spice things up, tonight he's taking me and the children out for hot wings..... how romantic.  ok... you can laugh because I am!!!!  Maybe I should hurry up and make a card with a chicken wing on it instead what do you think?

Remember You Are Stronger and Have More Courage Than You Know

Good afternoon! It's Friday and I thought I'd craft a little something for myself that sparks Joy (pun intended).  As a card maker I fink I make so many things, but never get to keep it for myself, even though I love gifting.  So I started out this afternoon with the intention of this going in my art journal, but soon remembered that my girlfriend could used a pick me up.  In this world it is so easy to feel insecure or not good enough, so this little water color is showing everyone one of my insecurities and with a little courage I am posting it for the world to see.  I hope this card sparks the same fearlessness in my friend.  I hope you like it.  For me.... try to speak an uplifting message to just one person today.

Wishing you a lifetime full of love

Good Evening!  I hope you're having a great start to your week?  I have a card  to share with you today that is meant for a swap.  The theme this month was blue/silver wedding.  I thought what says wedding better than Amazing Paper Grace?  This particular card was made from the December 2018 Amazing Paper Grace die set.  I love this one because it is meant to slip paper under and make into fancy cards by die cutting and embossing.  While I love this die set, I did find that it left marks on the paper where you don't really want them. I made 6 so, it wasn't user error.  Luckily I was able to hide most of it with embellishments and layers.  I hope you like it.

Products used:  Silver cs, blue cs, white cs, Distress Oxide Ink Tumbled Glass, Memento Ink Summer Sky,  December 2018 Amazing Paper Grace Die Set, Versa Mark Ink, Recollections White embossing powder, white stamens, Art Glitter Glue, light blue sheer ribbon, Gina K  Wealth of Wishes stamp set, and Spellbinders stp-004 stamp set.

Love, love, love

Hello there!  I'm kicking off the month with a love them over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge!  Today I made a triple heart easel card, but decided to use the bottom layer more as a stabilizer so it looks like a double easel.  I ventured out of my comfort zone and (gasp) used the Cut n scan canvas workspace to fuse and cut out the hearts.  I'm slowly but surely learning how to use this machine.  But never mind that!  Don't you love Patties image, Young Love?  I felt it expressed enough love that I didn't add a setiment, that the sender should right their love letter!  If you like what I've created with Pattie's digital stamp, please go check out her store and the other talented design team members' projects.  Without further ado...
